In 1994, giant hailstones with diameters of up to 5 inches were
reported 5 miles south of Tribune Kansas in Greeley County during
a severe thunderstorm. The hail knocked holes in roofs and damaged
windshields and farm machinery, causing an estimated half million
dollars in damage. These were some of the largest hailstones ever
observed in the Tri State area.

In 2007, an unusually strong low pressure system for early June
affected most of the Tri-state region with wind gusts of 50 to 70
mph. Minor damage was reported.
