- Cold front brings some rain today

An upper low migrating from near James Bay to near the Ontario-NY
border swings a trough axis/cold front across the central Great
Lakes today. An area of showers and low topped convection along
the the surface front is moving through northern Lower at this
time will advance south through our forecast area this morning.
Not expecting any severe weather but scattered thunderstorms with
gusty winds and brief heavy downpours are possible through the
morning across the central zones, and persisting through the
afternoon across the SE forecast area.

- Dry and cool Labor Day Weekend

Cool Canadian surface high builds in tonight and provides a dry
and cool stretch of weather into early next week. Low temperatures
expected to fall into the 30s again in the cold spots with 40s
widespread tonight and Friday night. Next chance for rain is on
Wednesday as a shortwave trough/cold front arrives.

Cold front moving through central and Lower Michigan between 12Z
and 16Z will bring scattered thunderstorms along with scattered
post-frontal showers into the afternoon. VFR expected to prevail
from late afternoon through tonight.

Issued at 142 AM EDT Thu Aug 28 2025

No changes to the Small Craft/Beach Hazards. Cold front moves
through this morning with scattered thunderstorms and winds
shifting from west to northwest gusting to 25 knots. Instability
remains behind the front with scattered showers and isolated
waterspouts possible through the afternoon.

High pressure with diminishing winds/waves for later Friday
through Labor Day.
