...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 AM EDT THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Union County, North Carolina.
* WHEN...Until 930 AM EDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and
flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. A few roads remain
closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all the
water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in
urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 328 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of
rain have fallen since late Thursday evening, and many areas saw
rain earlier Thursday which meant soils could not absorb much
more water.
- Flooding is reported at a couple of locations along Friendly
Baptist Church Rd near Unionville. The North and South Forks of
Crooked Creek are also at an elevated stage and may be causing
flooding of nearby low lying areas northwest of Monroe near Hemby
Bridge.

Monroe, Matthews, Indian Trail, Stallings, Unionville, Wingate,
Lake Park, Hemby Bridge and Fairview In Union County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
