.DISCUSSION...
Showers and a few thunderstorms will develop over the northern mountains and then
move off the Blue Ridge Escarpment through sunset. A few of the storms could
produce brief periods of heavy rain over the northern foothills of North Carolina
as they move east through mid-evening. The storm threat should diminish by 11 PM.
Strong gusty winds and cloud-to-ground lightning are possible near the storms.
