Isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area this afternoon, with additional showers and isolated storms entering the North Carolina mountains from the northwest this evening. The main threats will be gusty winds and cloud-to-ground lightning. A few damaging wind gusts from the strongest storms cannot be ruled out. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. Hot and humid conditions are expected Wednesday through Saturday, with high temperatures climbing into the lower to middle 90s. Maximum heat index values of 100 to 104 degrees are possible each afternoon, primarily along the I-77 corridor and the Upper Savannah River Valley. These hot and humid conditions will present an increased risk of heat-related illness for those who are sensitive to heat and to those without access to air conditioning.
