...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN SWAIN COUNTY
THROUGH 145 PM EDT...

At 115 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 13
miles southeast of Gatlinburg, or 6 miles north of the Oconaluftee
area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, moving southwest at 5
mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
eastern portions of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, including
Newfound Gap, Oconaluftee, Balsam Mountain, Cherokee, Deep Creek,
and part of the B.R. Parkway from the Smoky Mountains To Balsam Gap.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
