Buoy data at Ipan and Ritidian Point have shown a downward trend in
the significant wave height and in the peak and mean periods of the
swells affecting the Marianas. This data indicates that the east and
northeast swells are no longer supporting hazardous surf of 9 feet
and have allowed the risk or rip currents to drop from high to
moderate. Continue to practice general water safety when swimming or
doing other water activities as rip currents are still possible,
especially near cuts in the reef when surf is elevated.
