...ANTICIPATED OUTAGE OF SOME PRODUCTS AND SERVICES DUE TO A MAJOR
SOFTWARE UPDATE NEXT WEEK...

A significant software update at the NWS Weather Forecast Office in
Guam (WFO Guam) will take place from Monday June 23rd through
Thursday June 26th 2025 that will result in an extended outage of
Guams operational forecast systems. The majority of analysis and
forecast products, including all watches, warnings, and advisories,
will be provided by the NWS Weather Forecast Office in Honolulu
(HFO). However, there will still be a variety of impacts and outages.
WFO Guam plans to resume normal forecast operations by the evening
of Thursday June 26th or Friday June 27th.

Known impacts include:

1) All NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) transmitters in the Marianas will be
unavailable. The transmitters affected are:

WXM85 Mount Alutom on 162.40 MHz
WXM86 Mount Tapochou on 162.550 MHz

Please note that NWR is the only method for the National Weather
Service to activate the Emergency Alert System (EAS) for weather-
related watches and warnings. If there is a weather-related warning
issued while NWR is down, the Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil
Defense on Guam, and the Homeland Security Office of Emergency
Management in the CNMI, have the capability to activate the EAS using
the Civil Emergency Message Event Code, in addition to multiple
other means of communication including, but not limited to, direct
calls and Social Media.

2) Marianas text products likely to be impacted include the Daily
Climate Reports (e.g., CLIGUM, TIDGUM), Monthly Summaries (e.g.,
CF6GUM, CF6GSN), and the daily Point Forecast Matrices (PFMGUM).

3) Micronesia text products that will not be available include the
point forecast matrices (PFMPQ1, PFMPQ2), and the Tabular State
Forecast (SFTPQ1, SFTPQ2).
