...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING
FOR EXPOSED NORTH AND EAST FACING SHORES...

.Strong trades near and upstream of the islands will produce
large and rough surf along north and east shores today. The
primary swell direction will shift from north northeast (020-030)
to the northeast (030-050) by this evening. This will allow north
shore surf to decline, but large surf will persist along east
facing shores through at least Wednesday night.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Along north facing shores, surf of 12 to 18 feet this
morning, decreasing to 10 to 15 feet by this afternoon. Along
east facing shores, surf of 8 to 12 feet this morning,
increasing to 10 to 14 feet by this afternoon.

* WHERE...North and east facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu,
Molokai, Maui, and the Big Island.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening, though this advisory will
need to be extended through at least Wednesday night for east
facing shores. Coastal flooding impacts are likely around and
during the morning high tide cycles.

* IMPACTS...High. A combination of higher than predicted water
levels, large breaking waves, and strong onshore winds could
lead to significant wave runup, beach erosion, and localized
coastal flooding. Waves may wash across areas of the beach that
typically remain dry, with potential overwash onto vulnerable
  low-lying coastal roadways and properties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Heed all advice from ocean safety officials. Avoid driving
through flooded roadways. If you are forced to drive through salt
water, be sure to rinse your vehicle with fresh water. Move
electronics, vehicles or other valuables to higher ground. Monitor
vessels to ensure mooring lines don`t get too tight and watch out
for overwash around boat ramps. Secure canoes or other watercraft
stowed on beaches.
