.DISCUSSION...
Typical breezy trade wind pattern prevails this afternoon through
the first half of Friday. The site of this fire will remain on the
edge of the breezy northeast trades funneling across the northwest
side of the slopes of Mauna Kea and light upslope flow this afternoon,
that will become light downsloping flow overnight and light upslope
flow again with daytime heating tomorrow. As such, the winds will
likely vary at the site of the fire. Rain in advance of Tropical Storm
Lala is forecast to spread over the Big Island late Friday and continue
through the weekend. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will be possible
throughout this time, particularly on Saturday night when the heaviest
rain is anticipated. Winds for the weekend will be highly sensitive to
the exact track of the system and will be subject to revision. However,
at this time, it appears the strongest winds will occur over southeast
and southern slopes of the Big Island and adjacent waters.
