...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FOR THE BIG ISLAND SUMMITS ABOVE
12000 FEET ELEVATION...

.A disturbance aloft in combination with abundant moisture will bring
periods of heavy snowfall to the Big Island summits of Mauna Kea and
Mauna Loa today.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Periods of heavy snow with storm total snow accumulations
  of greater than 12 inches expected.

* WHERE...Big Island Summits.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet, and
ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This
will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Any travel plans to
the summits should be postponed until the threat diminishes.
