Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
419 AM EDT Mon Sep 1 2025

Valid 00Z Tue 02 Sep 2025 - 00Z Tue 09 Sep 2025

A weak surface trough accompanied by enhanced moisture will
continue moving westward through Hawaii on Monday. This may
locally enhance showers over Kauai as it moves through, but not
dramatically, while weak trade flow may give way to a land/sea
breeze pattern. After that surface trough moves away, a drier
airmass will move in under a ridge aloft for less shower coverage
by Tuesday and beyond, while trades may increase slightly to
around moderate levels. This pattern looks to last through the
rest of the week. By early next week, will continue to watch the
approach of Tropical Storm Kiko toward the state, as many
dynamical and AI/ML models and ensemble members have Kiko making
it at least close enough to Hawaii to influence the state`s
weather with increased rain and winds.
