Heavy rainfall along the front is likely to remain west of the main islands though wind speeds across the entire island chain, but especially the western islands, look moderate to gusty Thursday into Friday. Winds should moderate back to normal easterly trades by the weekend. A compact cut off low will meander east of the state this weekend as well, which may lead to some increased precipitation for eastern parts of the Big Island. Another cold front may reach the western islands later next week, bringing another round of increased precipitation, but there is still quite a bit of uncertainty how far east it will progress. The GFS is the farthest west with the parent system, keeping the front well west of the main islands, although the ECMWF and ensemble means show the front pushing into the western islands.
