.DISCUSSION...
Warmer temperatures are expected across the region this afternoon
compared to yesterday, however a slight cooling trend will cause
afternoon highs to drop again closer to average Monday and
Tuesday. Min RH values through the upcoming week won`t fluctuate
quite as much, generally around 10 to 20 percent across the
region. As we have seen in the past week, hundred to thousand acre
grass fires have sprung up as a result of these low RH values and
stronger late afternoon winds. These values will continue well
into next week, continuing an elevated risk for new fire
development and relatively quick growth. The most favorable
environment for new fires continues to be in the valley and
foothill areas where fine fuels are at their driest, however 100
hour fuel moisture is gradually decreasing as well due to the
lower RH. A wave of energy moving through the region tomorrow and
Tuesday is also expected to cause stronger winds to propagate
across the region, especially in the lee side of local mountain
ranges and in steep terrain where winds can be channeled. A Wind
Advisory has been issued for the Mojave Desert Slopes valid Monday
afternoon through early Tuesday morning.
