.DISCUSSION...
Gusty SSW winds will continue to advect low-level moisture
northeastward across the region this afternoon, although MinRH
values will range from ~30% in the east to ~40% in the west. Over
the course of the evening, a broken band of showers and
thunderstorms will evolve to our northwest and cross the region
from NW-to-SE early Wednesday morning, with strong winds,
lightning and a brief period of heavy rainfall possible in the
stronger cells. This activity should be ending across our
southeastern fire weather zones around sunrise, with a
cloudy/warm/moist airmass continuing throughout the day. After
light NE winds and a brief intrusion of cooler/drier air Wednesday
night, southerly return flow will bring a warm/humid airmass back
to the region Thursday, with a low (20-30% chance) for showers
and a few storms north of the TN River. Smoke dispersion will be
in the fair category both Wednesday/Thursday, with transport winds
of 10-15 MPH and mixing heights of 3000-3500 ft/Wed and 5000-5500
ft/Thur. In the extended portion of the forecast, we expect
additional chances for wetting rainfall on Friday/Friday night,
followed by a cooler/drier airmass from Sunday through early next
week.
Fog potential over the next few days: Light fog will be possible
in locations that receive rainfall overnight tonight, and in
valleys and near large bodies of water early Thursday morning.
Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
