219 FXUS63 KICT 100430 AFDICT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wichita KS 1030 PM CST Sun Nov 9 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Cooler conditions continue into Monday with a warming trend starting on Tuesday, persisting through the week. - Dry conditions will persist through the work week with rain chances increasing over the weekend. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 215 PM CST Sun Nov 9 2025 Currently, there is upper-level troughing stretching from the Great Lakes to the Lower Mississippi Valley with ridging over the western CONUS. A surface high sits over the Northern Plains with surface ridging extending down to the Southern Plains. In our area, breezy northerly winds persist with gusts up to 25-30 mph. Tonight, the upper-level ridge axis will move into the Northern Rockies and extend into the Central Great Basin. With expansive surface high pressure moving into the Central Plains late Sunday night, radiational cooling will lead to low temperatures in the lower 20s with areas in central and south-central KS dropping into the upper teens. On Monday, the surface high will shift east, beginning the return of southerly flow at the surface in our area. This will help warm high temperatures into the mid to upper 40s on Monday afternoon in central to south-central Kansas with eastern Kansas remaining in the lower 40s. Upper-level ridging is forecast to influence our area through Friday, resulting in the return of above normal temperatures. Dry conditions will prevail from Tuesday to Friday. High temperatures will rise back into the 60s and lower 70s throughout the work week. Long term model guidance starts to hint at a deep upper-level trough moving into the Rockies on Saturday. This system will likely bring increasing rain chances to the area next weekend. && .AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z TUESDAY/... Issued at 1029 PM CST Sun Nov 9 2025 Surface high pressure will be in control over the region tonight and slide slowly east during the day on Monday. This will give way to VFR conditions over the next 24hrs for central and southern Kansas. && .ICT WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$ DISCUSSION...GC AVIATION...CDJ
