Water vapor imagery and RAP analysis this afternoon depict broad
ridging over the Central and Southern Plains. At the surface, a
surface trough extends from far western Kansas northeast into the
Northern Plains. A tightened surface pressure gradient ahead of this
boundary has promoted breezy south winds so far today, and these are
forecast to continue overnight through Sunday alongside dry
conditions. Similar to today, high temperatures to close out the
weekend will climb into the 100-105 degree range. A few showers and
storms developing across the High Plains Sunday evening may find
their way into portions of central KS late Sunday night into early
Monday morning, though these should remain isolated and low-impact.

Hot, breezy, and mostly dry conditions are expected to continue
across the forecast area through the upcoming week with ridging
overhead. Chances for rain will likely reside well to our west
through at least mid-week behind the aforementioned surface trough
stalled across western KS. Hot daytime high temperatures will be
likely as well with values in the 100-104 degree range through at
least Wednesday and perhaps beyond. Toward the end of the week, long-
range models hint at isolated rain chances shifting east into
central KS as the ridge translates toward the eastern CONUS, though
confidence in these remains low this far out. As such, meaningful
rainfall in the forecast area appears unlikely through the upcoming
week.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z MONDAY/...

VFR conditions are expected throughout the TAF period. LLWS
conditions are expected all sites except CNU late this evening
into Sunday morning as a 45-50 kt LLJ near 1.4 kft develops
across the area. LLWS conditions will subside by 12Z as
southerly winds increase 15-20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. A weak
surface trough will approach central KS Sunday morning,
holding winds in the 10-15 kt range at RSL and GBD.

.FIRE WEATHER...

Breezy south winds combined with minimum RH values in the 20-25%
range will result in very high grassland fire danger across
portions of central and south central Kansas this afternoon,
then again across portions of south central Kansas Sunday
afternoon.
