.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 313 AM CDT Mon Jul 14 2025

The pesky upper trough laying across the Middle Mississippi Valley
area has shifted slightly eastward which will result in lower pops
across the forecast area through the middle of the week. Residual
low level moisture across southeast KS will allow for an uncapped
airmass this afternoon and again on Tuesday across only a slim
portion of southeast KS where some low pops were maintained as we
expect an isolated diurnally driven shower or two each day. With
some drier air in central KS and plenty of insolation more
seasonable temperatures will also return with highs in the low to
mid 90s today followed by mid and upper 90s on Tue while southeast
KS tops out in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Wednesday-Thursday...A shortwave trough moving across the Northern
Plains on Wednesday will drive a cold front southward into the
Central Plains late in the period. This front will become a focus
for showers and storms beginning late Wednesday. The front is
progged to stall across the region on Thu-Thu night before returning
north as a warm front on Friday. This will result in a period of
unsettled weather over the region with better chances for showers
and storms and a brief cooldown.

Fri-Sun...Some diurnally driven storms will remain in the forecast
through the period but we expect to see rising heights/increasing
thickness supporting rising temperatures as we move into the
weekend. Most locations are expected to see highs in the mid and
upper 90s.
