.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 227 PM CST Wed Dec 10 2025

The dry and quiet weather pattern will continue over the region as
placement of the upper northwest flow regime keeps moisture
shoved south of Kansas and the much colder air mainly east of
the area. Warmer temperatures return on Thursday aided by
premium downslope effects to help boost daytime highs to well
above normal readings. The main concern this time of year is
that daytime heating with a lower sun angle can be easily
hampered by thicker clouds. The thicker high clouds look to
remain mainly be north of area. Next cold front pushes southward
across Kansas on Thursday night with cooler near seasonal
average highs on Friday. Heading into the weekend a more
noticeable cool down will occur, especially on Sunday as a
reinforcing surge of shallow polar air spreads southward across
the region. North winds will increase in the wake of the
frontal passage on Saturday with Sunday likely being the coldest
day of the week. Models show the upper level ridge axis
amplifying over the Rockies and shifting eastward a bit into
next week. This will cause the weekend cool down to be short
lived for Kansas, as warmer air pushes back into area for Monday
and Tuesday next week.
