.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 229 PM CST Thu Nov 5 2026

Currently, a shortwave trough is passing over the Central Plains.
The associated vort max situated over the KS/OK border is leading to
showers and cloud cover across south-central Kansas with a few
isolated thunderstorms in northern OK. In the wake of the broader
trough and cold front, temperatures today linger in the upper 50s.
With northerly flow and another shortwave approaching the area on
Friday, low clouds will continue for northern and eastern portions
of the forecast area along with the chance for some spotty drizzle.
Temperatures on Friday will once again remain the the 50s for much
of the forecast area. The shortwave will traverse the region on
Saturday with clouds clearing the area from west to east throughout
the day. Temperatures will begin to rebound with highs in the lower
60s for central Kansas.

For Sunday into mid-week, broad troughing will build over the
Western US and across the Plains. Dry weather, mostly clear
conditions, and above normal temperatures are forecast through
Wednesday of next week. Models are hinting at another shortwave
towards middle/end of next week as a deep trough digs into the
Northeast US. At this point, this feature looks to have minimal
ramifications across the forecast area and may only lead to a slight
cool-down for the end of next week.
