...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1990, the small town of Shadyside Ohio, located on
the Ohio River near the West Virginia border, was
destroyed by a flood wave that ranged from 10 to 30 feet
high.  The phenomenal flooding was caused by around four
inches of rain that fell in just one hour and 15 minutes.
The flash flood killed 26 and caused between six and
eight million dollars damage.
