...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1951, a complex of severe thunderstorms plowed around
200 miles from Kingman County to Southern Missouri.
Wichita was the hardest hit.  Prolific hail producers,
the severe thunderstorms caused around $14 million damage
to roofs, windows and countless vehicles.  In a few
areas, the hail was a foot deep.  The hail size wasn`t
reported.
