...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1856, a severe blizzard began to rage in Kansas and
Iowa and lasted for 3 days.  Parts of Northern Iowa were
buried by around 15 inches of wind driven snow.

In 1952, a remarkable display of sea smoke was seen in
Hong Kong Harbor.  This was caused by an Arctic air mass
rushing over the relatively warm water of Kowlown Bay.
The air temperature near the water was 44 degrees.
