A cold front was advancing through the Plains this afternoon.
Widely scattered thunderstorm development is expected through the
remainder of the afternoon and evening across portions of Kansas
and Missouri. A few severe storms are also likely with large hail
up to baseball size and damaging winds near 70 mph possible.
Thunderstorm coverage should diminish as these storms move into
portions of southern Kansas and Oklahoma late this evening into
the overnight. Overnight lows will range from the upper 40s across
northeast Kansas to the upper 50s across southern Kansas. A quiet
day is in store for the Heartland Thursday as a large spread in
high temperatures are expected. Portions of northeast Kansas will
remain in the upper 70s while western Kansas surges into the lower
90s.
