Stout and gusty south winds and well above average temperatures
encompassed the region today, as low pressure deepened over the
western High Plains. South winds were strongest over generally the
western half of Kansas, where gusts exceeded 40 to 50 mph at
times. Daytime temperatures reached the 80s for most locations,
which was 10 to nearly 20 degrees warmer than average.

A few showers are possible over western Kansas before midnight
tonight. Otherwise, fairly quiet and mild weather will prevail
statewide overnight, along with breezy south winds. Forecast low
temperatures range from the upper 50s over far western Kansas to
mid to upper 60s over middle portions of the state, which is about
10 to 20 degrees warmer than average.

Above average temperatures along with stout and gusty south winds
will continue Sunday, with forecast high temperatures mostly in
the mid to upper 80s, although cooler 70s will creep into
northwest Kansas behind a strong cold front. In vicinity of this
cold front, a few late day showers and thunderstorms are possible
over central and western portions of the state.
