It was a hot and humid day over portions of the Sunflower State,
with afternoon high temperatures in the middle to upper 90s and heat
indices near and above 100 degrees in central, south central, and
southeast Kansas. A slow-moving cold front was touching off isolated
showers and thunderstorms over central Kansas as of 430 PM, while
scattered to widespread activity was observed moving off of the High
Plains of Colorado.

Showers and storms are expected to continue developing across
central Kansas as the cold front slowly moves to the south later
this evening into the overnight hours. The strongest storms are
expected to be capable of strong to severe wind gusts and locally
heavy rainfall. Overnight low temperatures are anticipated to range
from the upper 50s across far northwest Kansas to the middle 70s
across far southeast Kansas.

Continued showers and storms are expected throughout the day on
Thursday as the frontal boundary continues southward into Oklahoma.
The strongest thunderstorm activity will be capable of brief gusty
winds and locally heavy rainfall. Afternoon high temperatures are
forecast to range from the middle 70s across Nebraska and northwest
Kansas to near 90 across Oklahoma and southeast Kansas.
