Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
413 PM CDT Wed Aug 27 2025

Scattered to widespread rain showers made their way across
Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma this afternoon, keeping
temperatures in the 60s and 70s across portions of the Central
Plains. Warmer temperatures in the low 80s and 90s were observed
in Texas and northern Nebraska, where fewer clouds allowed for
temperatures closer to normal for this time of year.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to resume across portions of
central and southeast Kansas into northeast Oklahoma and southwest
Missouri later tonight. Locally heavy rainfall resulting in flooding
will be the primary threat with the strongest activity, as some
areas may see upwards of 3 to 5 inches of rain with locally higher
amounts possible, especially in southeast Kansas. Overnight low
temperatures in the 60s and 70s are forecast across Kansas and
Oklahoma, while portions of Nebraska and South Dakota will see
readings in the middle to upper 50s.

Shower and thunderstorm coverage will gradually decrease from west
to east Thursday morning, leaving mostly cloudy skies in its wake
across the Heartland. Afternoon high temperatures will reach the 70s
and 80s from South Dakota to Oklahoma and Arkansas.
