Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
229 AM CDT Sun Aug 31 2025

Showers and a few rumbles of thunder made their way through portions
of Kansas and Oklahoma early this morning and slowly pushed off to
the south and east. Mostly cloudy skies were observed across the
rest of the Central Plains, with overnight low temperatures ranging
from the upper 50s to the upper 60s.

Chances for showers and a handful of weak thunderstorms will
continue to slowly shift to the east today. No severe weather is
anticipated at this time, though locally heavy rain will be possible
with the strongest activity. Afternoon high temperatures in the 70s
and 80s are forecast across a majority of the region, though thick
clouds may prevent portions of Nebraska from escaping the 60s.

Residual showers will last into the overnight hours tonight,
especially for the eastern halves of Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma.
Low temperatures are once again expected to dip into the 50s and 60s
across the Central Plains as we head into Labor Day.
