Strong southerly winds also blew across the Heartland with gusts reaching over 40 miles per hour at times across Central Kansas. A few thunderstorms developed ahead of a frontal boundary in western and northern Kansas. Thunderstorms will continue along the frontal boundary from western Kansas into north-central Kansas. A few storms may be severe with large hail and strong wind gusts. Overnight lows will fall into the 60s across northwest Kansas with 70s expected elsewhere. For Tuesday, temperatures will range widely across the state with lower 70s expected in northwest Kansas behind the front with lower 100s expected across far south-central and southeast Kansas. Rain and storms will gradually overspread the state from the northwest as the front marches southeastward. $$
