A cold front approaching from the northwest supported isolated to
scattered showers and thunderstorms during the evening and overnight
hours over northwest Kansas. A few strong to severe thunderstorms
occurred during the evening, producing severe wind gusts and poor
visibility in blowing dust. Predawn temperatures across the state
were in the 60s and 70s, coolest over western Kansas.

Continued well above average temperatures will persist today for
many areas across the state with forecast highs well into the
90s. However, cooler 70s and 80s are expected over northwest
Kansas in wake of the cold front. By mid to late afternoon,
scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop over portions of
central Kansas along and ahead of the cold front. This activity
will spread into eastern Kansas through the evening. Some of these
thunderstorms may become severe, capable of damaging winds and
perhaps isolated instances of large hail. Furthermore, pockets of
heavy rainfall and localized flooding are possible.

Shower and thunderstorm chances will continue through tonight,
although severe weather potential should decrease after about
midnight. Forecast low temperatures range from upper 50s over
northwest Kansas, to low 70s over southeast Kansas.
