Partly to mostly cloudy skies presided over the Sunflower State
today as showers and storms developed ahead of an approaching cold
front. Afternoon high temperatures ranged from around 100 degrees
across central and south central Kansas to the low 70s across far
northwest Kansas. Breezy winds were noted along and east of
Interstate 135 as well. Showers and storms will continue to develop
through the evening hours across the eastern half of Kansas, with
strong to severe storms possible especially across northeast and
south central Kansas. The strongest activity will be capable of
large hail, damaging winds, and locally heavy rainfall.

A second round of showers and storms will develop later tonight
across the High Plains and sweep through Kansas heading into early
Sunday morning. While widespread severe weather appears unlikely,
gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall are possible across a
majority of Kansas. Overnight low temperatures will range from the
upper 50s across northwest Kansas to the low 70s across far
southeast Kansas.

Lingering showers and storms may persist across portions of east and
southeast Kansas throughout the day on Sunday, with returning
rain chances across far western Kansas by evening. Afternoon high
temperatures will range from near 70 degrees in northern Kansas to
near 90 degrees across far southeast Kansas.
