There is also a Moderate Risk of rip currents expected. For the Coastal Flood Warning, one to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Coastal Horry County. * WHEN...For the Beach Hazards Statement, from 6 AM EDT this morning through this evening. For the Coastal Flood Warning, from 8 AM this morning to 2 PM EDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Low-lying roads near the beaches, the Intracoastal Waterway, and adjacent tidal creeks will observe moderate coastal flooding. Roadways and structures adjacent to ocean swashes may be impacted. Check with local officials for the latest information regarding coastal flood impacts and closures. Longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers into rip currents, piers, jetties, and other hazardous areas. It may sweep swimmers off their feet, making it difficult to return to shore. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Caution should be used when in or near the water. Check with lifeguards before entering the ocean for possible hazards you may be swept into. && Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour. In downtown Wilmington, several blocks of Water Street observe shallow flooding from one half to one foot in depth. The low-lying areas along River Road and adjacent residential roads, south of River Road Park, will begin to flood. Route 133 at Little Mallory Creek may begin to flood.
