...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WATERS...
The areas affected include...
Coastal waters from Murrells Inlet to South Santee River SC out 20
NM...
At 424 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These
thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near North
Inlet Reef to near DeBordieu Colony, moving south at 5 knots.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass. If caught on the open water,
prepare for deteriorating conditions. Make sure you and your crew are
wearing properly fitted life jackets.
Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water, stay below deck if possible, and keep away from
ungrounded metal objects.
