...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM APPROACHING THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Coastal waters from Cape Fear NC to Little River Inlet SC out 20
  nm...
  Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm...

At 545 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located
over North Masonboro Island, moving northeast at 20 knots.

Locations impacted include...
Fort Fisher, 10 Mile Boxcars, Liberty Ship, Dallas Rock, Billy
Murrell Reef, Johnny Mercer Pier, Masonboro Sea Buoy, Harris Reef, 10
Mile Rocks, Kure Beach Point, Sheepshead Rock, Buoy Off Carolina
Beach, Topsail Boxcars, Topsail Tire Reef, Rich Inlet, Dredge Wreck,
5 Mile Boxcars, Kure Beach, North Masonboro Island, and Figure Eight
Island.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek
safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. If caught on the
open water, prepare for deteriorating conditions. Make sure you and
your crew are wearing properly fitted life jackets.
