At 456 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Cherry Grove, or 14 miles east of Mullins, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts 40 to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Whiteville, Tabor City, Chadbourn, Bethel, Lake Waccamaw, Makatoka, Freeland, Hallsboro, Nakina, Redbug, Exum, Council, Southeastern Community College, Williams, Cherry Grove, Old Dock, Mollie, Sidney, Clarendon, and Crusoe Island. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding.
