1) A stretch of dry weather and seasonably cool temperatures can be
expected through the weekend and into early next week, before rain
chances return to the forecast.

.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGE 1)

Patchy fog is possible once again Friday night into Saturday morning,
especially in the river valleys where more abundant moisture exists.

A deep column of dry air has settled into the region as a broad
region of high pressure sags down from the northern Great Lakes. Deep
northeasterly flow and mass subsidence results in dry weather, a few
passing clouds, and seasonably cooler temperatures as we head into
the weekend, persisting into early next week.

The extended pattern looks to become more unsettled, especially mid-
next week and beyond. Ensemble guidance suggests a troughing pattern
moving across Canada, pulling southerly flow back into CONUS. This
feature will help pull moisture from Hurricane Polo up into the
central Great Plains region and translate it east toward the Ohio
Valley late week. Much remains to be determined as to exactly how
things will play out, but the bottom line is that the signal for rain
returns as we head into October.

.AVIATION /12Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
VFR conditions expected through the remainder of the afternoon and
into the evening hours with deep layer northeasterly flow. Some
passing low level clouds continue through this afternoon, tapering
off by evening. River valley fog is expected again tonight, so have
reduced VSBYs appropriately.

A similar forecast is in place on Saturday with light northeasterly
flow and diurnal cumulus.
