Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
330 AM EDT Mon Oct 12 2026

.WHAT HAS CHANGED...
Expanded dense fog advisory. Increased QPF Wednesday into Wednesday
night and tightened up temperature gradients during that time as well.
Added severe, heavy rainfall, frost, and gusty winds to the HWO.

&&

.KEY MESSAGES...
1) Fog will reduce visibilities into Monday morning.

2) More active weather is expected from Wednesday through the rest of
the week, which will bring the potential for severe weather, heavy
rainfall, gusty winds, frost, and varying temperatures.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
Key Message 1)

Dense fog has developed across western portions of the region where
cloud cover has pushed east. Where cloud cover remains across the
east, only expect patchy fog. In the middle, have patchy dense fog.
Cannot rule out that the dense fog advisory may need to be expanded
again.

Key Message 2)

Monday and Tuesday will generally be dry with precipitation holding
off until late Tuesday into Wednesday. This will be the start of an
active weather pattern. Wednesday there are signals that there will
be the potential for a narrow corridor for severe weather Wednesday
afternoon into the evening hours near the Ohio River. Wednesday night
into the early daytime hours the threat turns to more of a heavy
rain threat. There will be another system on Friday where there will
be gusty winds and falling temperatures.

&&

.AVIATION /06Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
MVFR to IFR cigs are currently around KDAY, KILN, KCMH, and KLCK.
Most of these clouds have moved out of KCVG and KLUK which has
allowed for vsbys to drop. Expect cloud cover to continue to push
east and as it does vsbys will continue to drop.

Going into the day on Monday, conditions will gradually return to VFR
during the morning daytime hours. VFR conditions are then expected
for the remainder of the TAF period with just some mid and high
clouds.

OUTLOOK...Thunderstorms possible Wednesday afternoon into the early
evening hours MVFR conditions are possible at times Wednesday
through Friday. Gusty winds are expected on Friday.
