&&

.SHORT TERM...(Tonight through Sunday)
Issued at 225 PM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

A sprawling ridge of high pressure extending from Quebec
southwestward to the southern Plains will dominate the weather
across central Illinois over the next 24 hours. After SCT-BKN
diurnal clouds along/south of a Macomb to Rantoul line fade away
toward sunset, mostly clear skies will be the rule tonight and
Sunday. Low temperatures will range from the middle 40s along/east
of I-57 to around 50 degrees in the Illinois River Valley. Highs
on Sunday will top out in the middle to upper 70s.

.LONG TERM...(Monday through Next Saturday)
Issued at 225 PM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

A short-wave trough evident on 19z/2pm water vapor imagery over
the Pacific Northwest will lift northeastward into Manitoba by
Monday...pushing a weak cold front toward central Illinois. While
deep-layer moisture will be absent, think there will be just
enough moisture and lift associated with the boundary to bring an
increase in cloud cover and perhaps an isolated shower to the W/NW
KILX CWA by Monday/Tuesday. The NBM remains dry and see no reason
to add PoPs at this point. After a brief cool-down into the lower
70s behind the front on Wednesday, readings will rebound well into
the 70s to around 80 degrees by Thursday/Friday. After that, the
12z Oct 11 models are suggesting another short-wave trough will
attempt to flatten the prevailing upper ridge over the Midwest by
next weekend. Both the GFS and ECMWF show this stronger wave
pushing a more significant front into the region late Friday into
Saturday. While it is still too early to make any promises, it
appears the next best chance for rainfall will materialize at that
time. Stay tuned over the next few forecast cycles as details
become clearer.
