...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM CDT SUNDAY FOR
EAST CENTRAL VERMILION COUNTY...
At 1120 PM CDT, emergency management reported flash flooding
occurring due to earlier thunderstorms. Areas from Bismarck to
Danville were most impacted, with several roads flooded and vehicles
stranded. Area weather stations reported 3 to 7 inches of rain has
fallen thus far, including 6.40 inches in Bismarck, 5.62 inches at
Vermilion Regional Airport, and 4.63 inches at Alvin. Flooding
impacts will continue, but little additional rainfall is expected.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Danville, Vermilion Regional Airport, Bismarck, Henning and Alvin.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
