.DISCUSSION...

Surface winds will remain primarily from the south ahead of an
impending cold front, becoming north by midday Friday in its wake.
Periods of showers and isolated thunderstorms will accompany this
frontal passage, with the bulk of the rain coming Thursday and
Thursday night.

Ventilation rates west of Interstate 57 will remain poor through
Thursday due to low mixing heights and slow transport winds.
Meanwhile, areas to the east will exhibit good ventilation as
broken sunshine helps boost mixing heights.

Drier and much cooler weather returns Friday night through the
middle of next week as surface high pressure settles over the
region. This type of airmass will likely suppress vent rates.
