.DISCUSSION...
Modest mixing this afternoon will bring dewpoints into the teens,
resulting in min afternoon RH values of 17 to 25 percent. Coupled
with northwest winds gusting to 20 mph in east-central IL (15 mph
elsewhere), this may result in some marginal fire weather
conditions. Winds ease by late afternoon and will likely go calm
overnight as surface high pressure settles over the district, but
then they will return from the southeast tomorrow with the
approach of a low pressure system from the west. That system is
forecast to bring light rain and even a low (15%) chance of
thunder to the region with most locations receiving a tenth to a
quarter inch from tomorrow evening through Tuesday morning.
Ventilation will be fair today given the modest mixing and 10 to
15 kt northwest transport winds, but it will worsen as a low
level temperature inversion develops tomorrow ahead of the
incoming storm system - limiting mixing.
