Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
309 PM CDT Tue May 14 2024

.DISCUSSION...

A few lingering showers into Tuesday night will give way to a dry
Wednesday, though burning will not be favored given weakening
northeast transport winds and generally shallow afternoon mixing
heights, which are forecast to peak near 4 thousand feet. Fuels
will recover little before additional rain overspreads central
Illinois Thursday, with 50% or greater chances continuing through
Friday. Rain coverage will decrease this weekend, though a
stationary frontal boundary near or just north of the area will
maintain slight (20%) chances both Saturday and Sunday, when vent
rates finally improve.
