Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
235 PM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Aside from a widely isolated shower this afternoon near or east of
the I-57 corridor, little, if any, precipitation is expected through
tomorrow afternoon. Conditions remain somewhat on the humid side,
however, with minimum afternoon RH values only dipping to 40 to 45
percent both this evening and tomorrow. Poor ventilation is
expected today with only slight improvements tomorrow given
increasing transport winds out of the northeast. These northeast
winds increase further Friday into Friday night, when gusts are
forecast to approach 40 mph. However, this is expected to produce
little improvement in ventilation given shallower mixing as rain
overspreads the region from the south late Thursday night through
Friday. Rainfall amounts with this system remain uncertain, but
the greatest likelihood (30 to 50 percent) for more than an inch
currently appears to be south of I-70, with the bulk of this rain
falling Thursday night through Saturday night.
