.DISCUSSION...
Ahead of a cold front, southwest winds will gust to 25 to 30 mph
(highest in east-central IL) from mid morning through early
afternoon. Shallow mixing heights will limit ventilation
initially, but that should improve as mixing deepens behind the
front later this afternoon. High resolution guidance indicates a
short lull in winds with the front, but then an uptick this
evening with some gusts over 20 mph from the northwest. Mixing
will be a little deeper tomorrow, resulting in min afternoon RH
values of 20 to 25 percent, but transport winds generally less
than 20 kt will limit fire weather concerns.
