Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
128 PM CST Fri Mar 6 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Excellent ventilation will continue through the afternoon outside of
any isolated (20% coverage) thunderstorms that manage to fire, as
relatively deep mixing combines with southwest winds gusting to 35
(locally 40) mph. More widespread showers and storms will move
through the area overnight into Saturday morning, with high (70-80%)
confidence in a wetting rain. Gusty southwest winds will switch
around to northwesterly behind a cold front late morning into early
afternoon tomorrow, and gradually ease thereafter, though
ventilation will remain somewhat efficient during the afternoon due
to continued deep mixing. Conditions are then forecast to remain dry
until the next system approaches late Monday.
