...National Weather Service Indianapolis Radar to be Down for
Maintenance...


Beginning June 20, 2025, the KIND WSR-88D Doppler Radar operated
by NOAAs National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis, IN
will be down for approximately three days (6/20 to 6/22) for
important maintenance. Technicians will be replacing two
panels on the outside of the protective radome ball, and they
will also be sealing the radome. The radar will need to be off
during the entire time of this maintenance.

During the downtime, adjacent radars will be available, including
Northern Indiana (KIWX), Evansville (KVWX), Louisville (KLVX),
Lincoln IL (KILX), and Wilmington OH (KILN), as well as the
Indianapolis Terminal Doppler Radar (TIDS). For direct access to
any of these surrounding radar sites, visit the following website
at https://radar.weather.gov/. These surrounding radars will
continue to support timely and accurate NWS forecasts and
warnings.

The KIND WSR-88D is part of a network of 159 operational radars.
The Radar Operations Center in Norman, Oklahoma, provides
life cycle management and support for all WSR-88Ds.
