.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1256 PM CDT Sat Aug 2 2025

Tonight through Monday...Showers and a few storms have broken out
across mainly central and southern portions of the forecast area
as expected this afternoon. As has been the case through much of
the week, this convection will begin eroding during the evening
hours as day time heating gradually wanes. Until then, gusty winds
will be possible with the most intense storms, with frequent
lighting and heavy downpours likely with any storm. Clouds will
linger across the region overnight. Thanks to the slightly drier
air advecting into the forecast area, lows will cool into the
middle 60s and middle 70s.

The height of this drier airmass will be observed across the
forecast area on Sunday, with dew points mixing into the mid 60s and
lower 70s. These will moderate up a tad on Monday, i.e. upper 60s
and lower 70s. Still, the lower humidity levels will certainly be
welcomed, with high temperatures still near seasonal readings as
they warm into the mid 80s and lower 90s. Rain chances will be
shunted more to east and southeast Mississippi both afternoons, as
this is where the deeper moisture will exist across the area. These
will again be confined to the afternoon and early evening hours, and
will begin dissipating after sunset.

Tuesday through Friday...As troughing exits the region early in the
week, ridging aloft will begin building back into the region through
the the mid and latter portion of the work week. Heat and moisture
will also be on the increase across the region during this time. By
the end of the period, high temperatures will be back in the low to
middle 90s, with afternoon heat index values creeping back up to and
above the century mark. Also, with the increasing moisture late in
the week, showers and thunderstorms will become more scattered to
numerous during the afternoon across much of the forecast area. /19/
