357 FXUS64 KJAN 310536 AFDJAN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Jackson MS 1236 AM CDT Sun Aug 31 2025 ...New AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 108 PM CDT Sat Aug 30 2025 A weak low-level vorticity center can be seen in a swirl of low- level clouds over southeast Mississippi this afternoon, but prevailing northerly flow over the region will reinforce drier air over our forecast area through the remainder of the weekend. The flow aloft should amplify quickly as an upperl-evel ridge over the Rockies elongates and deep troughing digs over the eastern half of the CONUS. Upper-level heights in the core of this trough will be about 2-4 standard deviations below normal for this time of year - resulting in suppressed early September temperatures running about 5 degrees below normal. And PWAT values falling below 1.5 inches should bring the Gulf Coast atmosphere to a little drier than average for early September. The broad trough over the eastern half of the country still means disturbances could bring some chance for showers or storms to the region, and Tuesday into Thursday currently looks to be the best time range for that to occur. Timing and strength of the wave details could adjust this window for rainfall. /NF/ && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1236 AM CDT Sun Aug 31 2025 Quiet conditions will occur across all TAF sites with VFR conditions prevailing. /CR/ && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
