Synopsis for Altamaha Sound GA to Flagler Beach FL out to 60 nm-
517 AM EDT Mon Aug 17 2026

.SYNOPSIS...

High pressure extending from the Bahamas westward across the Gulf
will gradually weaken this week as a frontal boundary sags southward
over the southeastern states. Chances for mainly afternoon and
evening thunderstorms will increase across our local waters mid to
late week. Scattered late afternoon and evening showers and
thunderstorms will be possible today, mainly over the near shore
waters. Westerly winds will prevail during the next several days,
with winds over the near shore waters shifting to southerly during
the afternoon hours as the Atlantic sea breeze shifts slowly inland.
Coverage of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms will
increase on Tuesday ahead of the approaching frontal boundary, with
southwesterly winds surging ahead of this boundary on Tuesday
evening possibly bringing speeds up to near Caution levels. Coverage
of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms will shift to the
northeast Florida waters on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by
increasing coverage from Friday through the upcoming weekend
throughout our local waters.
