.DISCUSSION...

Chances for showers and a few thunderstorms will increase as the afternoon
progresses, with another round of showers and potential thunderstorms
during the mid to late evening hours. Activity will move briskly northward,
which should limit the duration of any heavier downpours that impact the
event site, with a 1-2 hour break in rainfall likely during the early evening
hours. Occasional lightning strikes and briefly heavy rainfall can be expected
with thunderstorms that potentially impact the Live Oak area this afternoon and
evening. Temperatures will peak in the mid to upper 80s around the event
onset during the early to mid afternoon hours before showers and thunderstorms
arrive, with peak heat indices reaching to near 100 degrees before cooling off
during the mid to late afternoon hours as cloud cover and rainfall coverage
increases. Temperatures will fall into the 70s this evening. Light, mainly
southerly surface winds are forecast outside of thunderstorm activity. Strong
storms are unlikely today, with brief wind gusts of 25-35 mph possible with
any thunderstorms that impact the Live Oak area this afternoon.
